Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Long Beach, NY

Always Ready to Address Your Dental Concerns

If you have not been to the dentist in a long time or you simply aren’t sure which treatment you need to maintain your smile and oral well-being, we’re here to help however we can. Whether you need a basic cleaning or a more involved restorative or orthodontic treatment, Dr. Shanock and his team are happy to include some of the most frequently asked questions they hear at the dental office. Of course, feel free to call us directly if your question is not listed.

How often should I visit for a checkup?

Our dentists recommend that you visit at least once every six months. This gives us an opportunity to not only examine your teeth and gums but make sure your oral care is working effectively. Furthermore, we can perform essential screenings of potentially life-threatening diseases like oral cancer. Those with gum disease will need to visit more frequently, typically every three to four months.

Can you place dental implants?

Yes we can! Thanks to the expertise of our dentists, we can not only place dental implants entirely in-office but also cover them with natural-looking, fully-customized implant restorations. Our advanced technology also ensures that we have as much information as possible about your unique case, improving the overall outcome of your oral surgery and long-term tooth replacement.

Do you offer orthodontics?

We are happy to offer not only multiple types of orthodontics but also Invisalign clear aligners for those looking for methods to straighten or realign their teeth and/or bite. Our in-house orthodontist, Dr. Sarit, is happy to assist patients in determining the best treatment for them. Our advanced technology also makes the process more efficient and convenient, so you don’t have to travel to another dental office just to complete the treatment process.

How can you transform my smile?

While we offer many restorative solutions to protect your long-term oral health, we also provide cosmetic options to ensure your smile looks exactly the way you want it to. Our metal-free restorations, for example, are designed to cover damaged portions of teeth while also making sure they look natural and blend in with your neighboring teeth. Should you require complex restorative work, we’ll develop a treatment plan that addresses your needs accordingly.

Can I visit for a dental emergency?

Absolutely. Our dental office is happy to be open 24 hours exclusively for dental emergencies. We are also available on Sundays for dental emergencies, meaning you should have no reason not to call if you are dealing with a bad toothache, broken tooth, oral infection, or other serious concern. Our dental office also provides individual operating rooms and sedation options like nitrous oxide and general anesthesia if needed.

I have trouble sleeping. Can a dentist help?

Many people might not realize it, but many dentists are actually uniquely equipped to help manage sleep disorders like sleep apnea. Our dental office offers customized oral appliance therapy so you can take back your night’s sleep.

My child needs complex restorative work. How do you keep him/her comfortable?

Dr. Glen’s Happy Teeth works hard to help young patients remain comfortable during their visits. One of the ways we do this is by ensuring operating room privileges for children in need of large amounts of restorative work.
