As our dedicated general, cosmetic and implant dentist, Dr. Tong thinks that there’s a lot to love about his work. He really enjoys building long-term relationships with his patients and helping to eliminate any fear or anxiety they have regarding the dentist’s office. He also always feels proud when he makes a positive impact on their oral hygiene habits at home, which helps them achieve better oral health. Dr. Tong has always worked well with people and he happens to have excellent technical skills when working with his hands. Maybe being an avid video gamer played a small part in that! In his younger days, he volunteered at a hospital and eventually found himself shadowing a dentist. When he first saw the man restore a tooth to its former glory, he was immediately intrigued and almost in awe. Dentistry seemed so varied and unrepetitive, and the minute he sculpted his first tooth in dental school, he knew he’d picked the right profession for himself.
After graduating from Binghamton University, Dr. Tong pursued his doctorate at the Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Then, he attended the NYC residency program at NYU-Winthrop University with a second-year extension as chief resident to focus on specialties like implantology, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Today, he is still a part-time clinical assistant professor at NYU-Winthrop Hospital and helps mentor new residents. He has attended continuing education courses through Spear Education, is certified in diode laser treatment, and is a current member of the American Dental Association.
Dr. Tong’s wife Tiffany is also in the healthcare field, working as a physician’s assistant in NYC. Outside of working hours, you can typically find him playing/watching basketball, enjoying some video games, discovering and exploring new cultures through traveling, and doing pretty much anything involving food (baking, eating, cooking, you name it). He also collects sneakers!
